After outbreaks in mid-June, Texas grew to be the most contagious spot for Covid-19 cases in the United States. Healthcare workers at the United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) became the front line responders against the virus in Houston.

UMMC scrambled to keep ICU beds available— all while attempting to save severely ill patients that were sometimes airlifted in from other nearby hospitals.
